Here is the next installment in our Meet the Maker series. Let's meet That Little Outfit
1) Who are you and what do you make?
My name is Lauren, mother of two, ex primary school teacher and creator of children’s clothing at That Little Outfit.
2) What first got you into making things?
When I had my first baby I spent a small fortune on handmade clothes for her and although some items were beautiful, others were such shoddy craftsmanship that I was determined to learn how to make them properly myself. I went to a few sewing classes and spent hour upon hour perfecting the items I was making, ready to sell!
3) What does a day in the life of That Little Outfit look like? (if there is such a things as a standard day?)
With a three year old, a nine month old, a dog and a small business, I’m not sure there is a standard day but usually it involves squeezing in a bit of cutting out, sewing or packing orders in between feeding the little people and trying to keep my house from looking like a complete hovel!
Luckily, we have been blessed with two very good sleepers so I usually do the majority of my work from 7pm onwards. Some evenings this means I’m at my sewing machine until the early hours or on my laptop responding to emails, invoicing for events or updating the website.
4) What hopes and plans do you have for your handmade business the future?
I have recently resigned from my teaching job to focus on That Little Outfit so I hope my brand continues to grow, particularly through the use of my blog and the various workshops I am now running. I have just extended my collections to include boys’ clothes and have plans to develop a new range of mama merch too!
You can find That Little Outfit on their website, Instagram and Facebook.

Like what you see but not quite what you're after? Send us a message and we'll see what we can do for you.
Canalside Creations is a handmade craft business run by us, a husband and wife team, and inspired by our two small children. Each and every purchase makes us do a little happy dance and means we can keep running our little business and spend more time home with our little family. Thank you for supporting handmade!
