Meet the Maker: Sam's Magical Threads

July 13, 2018

Here is the next installment in our Meet the Maker series. Let's meet Sam's Magical Threads.

1) Who are you and what do you make?

Hi I'm Sam, I'm a mum of one very smart and gorgeous little lady, who was the inspiration for making bright and fun baby clothes, which then branched out into children's all the way up to adults. My favorite being Mummy and Me sets.

2) What first got you into making things?

I first started to make baby clothes for my daughter because of the lack of cloth nappy friendly clothes on the high street, and because pink get boring after a months of only pink clothes. I want my daughter to know, she can dress as she likes, not as the high street thinks we should.

3) What does a day in the life of Sam's Magical Threads look like? (if there is such a things as a standard day?)

Well that's a hard one to answer, we home ed here, so there is all sorts of games, singing the alphabet currently, cheeky bit of telly time while I cut and sew up orders or in stock for my Etsy store and now my shelf unit at Carlton House. Then all your normal housework, dinner etc. Occasional spur of the moment trips for fun and education. The last day out we went to see the National Train Museum in York, it was amazing.

4) What hopes and plans do you have for your handmade business the future?

I hope to build up the business enough to create a steady income to help support my family along side my husband who works hard to keep us fed and a roof over our heads. I would love to one day have a big sewing room too, as I currently work in the dining room.

You can find Sam and her colourful creations in her Etsy shop, on Facebook and Instagram, and at Carlton House Vintage Arts & Craft Centre in Worksop.
